My husband and I like to take romantic weekend getaways. One of our favorites was to New Harmony, Indiana. We went between Christmas and New Years Eve when the prices are considerably lower. I would recommend that you stay at The New Harmony Inn. The rooms are set up to look like comfy romantic cottages, but are actually in a hotel. They place little chocolates on your pillows and most rooms have a quaint little balcony overlooking the grounds. As part of your stay here and included in the price, you also get to go on a horse drawn carriage ride through the historic town and dinner at The Red Geranium. This is a top notch dining experience where I have to say served the absolute best cheese cake I have ever tasted and had an extensive wine collection. Breakfast was also included where it was set up buffet style with the an ice sculpture as the centerpiece.
Some things to do around this beautiful historic town is to walk through their old timey maze or hunt through the many antique shops and walk through the part of town that is still set as it was in its beginnings.
This was for us a very romantic weekend that cost little but gave us a wonderful memory to cherish forever. |
