Vincennes Indiana is a small town in southern Indiana- full of history and entertainment. My wife and I travel there for a weekend visit quite frequently, and it never fails to be a bright and enjoyable experience.
Our favorite place to stay is the local Holiday Inn Express. It was just built 3 years ago- and let me tell you- the place is wonderful. Full-size indoor pool and a hot-tub in every room! But enough about hotels (you've all been to one before) and lets move on to entertainment!
Vincennes was Indiana's first city, and is home to Indiana's first college - Vincennes University. The campus itself is a gem that I recommend touring at least once.
Also, Vincennes was home to a major revolutionary war battle - and in memory of this, a large monument (the biggest outside of D.C) was erected here. It, along with the estate of William Henry Harrison, provide historical beauty found nowhere else in the United States.
If history isn't your thing, there are many bars and comedy clubs that are all so different, it's impossible not to find a place where you feel like home.
My wife and I usually hit up Willies- a local bar with a charm you just don't find in bigger cities. The regulars are all very friendly, and by the end of the night-you feel like you are one too.
So- for anyone looking for a great escape to a small town which lacks nothing, yet secludes you from the stresses of city life, Vincennes is perfect! (I brought my wife here for our 25th anniversary! She loved it!)
But don't just take my word for it. Go visit Vincennes Indiana and see for yourself! You won't be disappointed. |
